The meaning of ‘Pharmacokinetics’ can be gauged by simplifying the term as it carries a combination of two separate terms, drugs and motion, having different meanings. The term PHARMACOKINETICs, therefore can be understood as a branch of study which looks into the very phenomenon or the causal effect which takes place in a body of living organisms after having treated it with drugs. The studying of this phenomenon includes an over whiling of the effects on the drug as in its distribution in the body, the time period within which it produces its effect and the behaviour of body after it has absorbed the drug completely. PHARMACOKINETICS, as a branch of study, is very important to study the nature of all the drugs and to know which drugs are harmful and which ones are useful. Also, it will be instrumental in knowing that which drug should be used for which purpose and on which other living organisms other than human beings. Pharmacokinetics should be distinguished from Pharmacodynamics. The former studies the effect of body on the drugs and the latter studies the effects of the drug on the body. Hence, the body and drugs are the main areas of assessment.
